Aniseed has a sweet, licorice-like aroma, which is a popular culinary staple in India and Turkey. Aniseed is widely used in cordials and liqueurs. The essential oil from aniseed comes from the tiny seeds produced by the flowers.

Precautions

Aniseed essential oil is not to be confused with star anise. Aniseed essential oil solidifies at low temperatures; hard-warm the bottle before use to promote fluidity. Aniseed essential oil is phototoxic.

- Do not use if pregnant
- Do not use if breastfeeding
- Do not use if you have liver disease or cancer
- May cause skin irritation
